As excited as many of you undoubtedly are, let's try to keep the comments somewhat civilized.
Do they take credit card?
Posted by: anon at November 4, 2007 5:23 PMWell we know that those Ner Israel bochurim will be getting good dinners on Thursday nights!
:-)
Just got this email from dougies...
Friends,
We apologize for any inconvenience, but due to safety concerns (i.e. children running across the street, cars stopping suddenly to look), Dougie's will not be serving dinner at the corner of Willowglen and Greenspring Avenue on Tuesday evening.
Again we apologize for any inconvenience. We hope you'll catch us another time, say...
Monday ... on Security Blvd. near Gwynoak from 11 to 2.
Wednesday … in Owings Mills on Red Run Blvd. and Mill Run Circle from 11 to 2
Thursday … for dinner at Woodholm Elem. On Mt. Wilson Lane from 5 to 7:30
Sunday … for dinner at Etz Chaim on Fords Lane from 4:30 to 7:30
Thank You & have a great day!

doesnt really seem to me like they know what they are doing
Posted by: bmorereal123 at November 5, 2007 11:30 AMJust seems like a weird concept. They couldn't find cheap enough rent anywhere in the city? There seems to be enough interest to justify the investment.
Posted by: Aaron at November 5, 2007 11:32 AMI tried it at Security Blvd... I had a London Broil wrap (with Romaine and whole wheat!) and sweet potato chips. It seems like they have some health consciousness in their menu selection which is great! I was all excellent. I loved the horseradish on the wrap.
They seemed to be getting a fair amount of business. The word got spread around the Social Security frummies by way of the mincha minyan and through email.
As to the comment about "not knowing what they are doing"... don't you think you're being a bit harsh? This is all brand new... they just built this special vehicle, complete with hand washing station! Would you expect everything to go 100% smoothly from the start? I think it's gone surprisingly well so far.
Posted by: Tzadik at November 5, 2007 2:20 PMGive them a break. They are trying to make a living like any of us. They took a risk going with a truck (saving lots of otherwise on-going overhead at a sit down location I guess) but are hoping they fill a need. They won't compete against a sit down nor does it look like they are trying. Do not treat them like they are a sit down fast food restaurant like most Dougies. It is unfair to them. Give them time to find where they have the best chance to succeed and cut them a break.
It is not for me but they look like they are trying hard.

A: Yes, they do take credit cards.

It was my birthday yesterday (Tuesday) and my sister took me to WillowGlen and Greenspring Avenue for some ribs. But the Dougies' truck wasn't there. We saw the schedule at the top of the blog, and it included Tuesdays.
We didn't see the revised schedule, because it was down a bit in the blog.
I was disappointed, but understand the reason for cancelling the location. It is very dark and can be dangerous for little ones.
We love Dougies!
I had it for lunch today - it was in a very strange location in Owings Mills and not where the email above said it would be. The food was not bad - but it was very cold out - only to get worse. I was there for @ 40 minutes and only 5 people came. i hope it works for them but i think they need to revisit their strategy a bit.
