Lost and South Park: Awesome.

Last night was just an awesome night of TV. Lost was just awesome. I normally don't care for the filler episodes (I'm more interested in what's going on with the A-team and The Others than what's going on back at the beach), but the whole Nikki/Paulo back story, along with how they retrofit the two of them into the whole first and second seasons, plus the unbelievable ending, made for one exciting episodes. A few notes:

  • It was so cool the way they worked Nikki and Paulo into the past goings-on on the island. Was that done with computers, did they actually shoot Nikki and Paulo from the beginnging, or did they recreate the whole plane crash scene?

  • Paulo knew a whole lot about what was going on with the hatches and The Others that he didn't let on. If he'd been paying attention, he could have told everyone about Michael and Ben in advance. Just goes to show that Jack needs to be a bit more open with everyone about what goes on

  • The big reveal, I think, was that the whole purpose in sending in Michael to convince Jack, Kate and Sawyer to trek to the other side of the island (end of Season 2) was to get Jack to do surgery on Ben's tumor. All Ben needed was Jack, Kate and Sawyer were only there to be used to convince Jack to do the surgery. Ben is one sneaky (and smart) feller. The only thing I can't figure out: I understand why Ben would not want to leave the island, as he's never been off it before, but why not, before the sky went purple, bring in someone else to do the surgery? If The Others can produce The Man from Tallahassee with their magic box, why can't Ben conjure up a less-jaded spinal surgeon?

  • The Monster: Did you hear the clicking sound (producers of the show have confirmed it is sampled from a NYC cab receipt machine) right before Nikki was overrun by Medusa spiders? That's The Monster's sound! Watch the episode where Mr. Eko dies, you'll hear the same sound before Yemi appears. The Monster can shape shift, and seems hell-bent on justice. Crazy.

  • Where were Ben and Julia coming from? They didn't come down the ladder, and they mentioned something about "The Flame." Is/was there an underground tunnel that connects the Pearl station to the now-exploded Flame station?

  • Yes, Locke was watching Expose on last week's episode. If you listen carefully, you can hear the characters mention "The Cobra."

  • Doc Arzt! Lando!

  • And the ending. O.M.G. I thought they were going to wake up before the dirt went on. Oh, was I wrong.

  • I feel like I'm forgetting something...

So who thinks Nikki and Paulo end up getting re-buried in the cave and end up (due to some kind of time-warp thing) as the Adam and Eve corpses?

And the latest South Park parody of 24 was hilarious. See it on YouTube, before it gets pulled down.
