Assorted Baltimore Kosher Tidbits

  • David Chu's is not as good as it used to be. Ever since the ownership change late last year, the food hasn't been the same. I'd heard reports of this, but finally got to try it for myself. I was very disappointed. Hopefully they can get their groove back, as it's still one of the nicest places to eat in town. Rumor is that the original David Chu's chef left and is now at Kosher Bite, so perhaps KB's Chinese food is now better.
  • The world-famous Kosher Bite french fry is dead. Kosher Bite recently changed the type of french fry they use in making their fries. The new fry is the same as the fries used by Accents. Kosher Bite: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!? Just because Accents does it, doesn't mean you have to. We want our fries back. Next time you're at KB, remember to tell them to bring back the old fries.
  • The latest unconfirmed word-on-the-street is that the Kosher Subway is not happening in Baltimore. More on this as it develops.
  • I had a Cocoaccino's hot chocolate yesterday. It was really, really good. Still no wifi.

Also, KB changed the type of onion rings they use. They used to be good, now they're not.

General Tso's Kitten.

(Something to think about!)

Yeah, Chu's has gone downhill. My wife had Beef with broccoli, and it was extremely salty. We had it to go, so we couldn't return it. The egg roll was also very salty. Sesame chicken was excellent though.

Is the Brasserie still opened?

On the SUBWAY, I had heard exactly the opposite and news will hit in the next few weeks.

You have got to love rumors.

Yeah, I've been saying for a while now that things at David Chu's are different. The egg rolls are better, but everything else is worse.

What made you go into KB? I'm surprised you even tried stepping foot in there.

Diana, yes, its still open.

I went to David Chu's last night and thought it was really good.

Ok, the story with the KB fries is that their supplier hasn't been carrying the originals for a few weeks. Turns out, these new crappy fries are actually more expensive, so we can rest assured that the old ones will be back when they become available.

I give up on Chu's (and every other fleshig joint in this city). Last time I was there the waitress looked over my shoulder as I signed the slip and told me that I didn't leave a good enough tip. That would be because of bad service.

I bought a wok, "special brown" sauces and a decent sharp knife and my wife says that I'm just as good (and cheaper)! I found ou kosher lo mein and other noodle types at the Asian market on rt 40 & Rolling Rd.

qsman - thanks for sharing about kosher lo mein on route 40 - was it hard to find in the store? Also what type of "special brown sauce" did you buy and where can I find it?

Thanks!
