Shomer Shabbos!
More Jews in the news. Last night, WBAL ran a story on the 11 o'clock news about a local man, David Brown, a Towson University police officer, who is suing his employer for discrimination (video included). Brown is an Orthodox Jew, and is suing Towson for insisting he roll out on Shabbos.
Make sure to watch the video, and catch the incisive legal punditry by hotshot discrimination attorney Ari "S.Z." Taragin, Esquire. Not since Bubby Susan's rendition of "Home on the Range" graced the airwaves has the family been this proud.
I can't beleive they cut 99% of my interview. I was citing legal precedent, explaining federal statutes, and enlightening the public. I can be reached for further comments through my publicists, Jacob Schnur or Jacob Statman.
Posted by: SZT at September 29, 2006 12:29 PMUmm, I just watched the first 40% of the video, and it almost word for word what is written in the article.
Posted by: AlanLaz at September 29, 2006 12:36 PMCould be, but you can't see Ari walking and talking in the article. Zaidy Willy would be shepping such nachas;)
Posted by: peninah at September 29, 2006 12:40 PMInitially I was flabbergasted and confused when it appeared that SZT actually owned a tie and could pronounce "dis-crim-i-na-tion", but my fears were assuaged when I saw that he can't even spell "believe" correctly. Whew! I don't deal well with conceptions of my heroes changing.
And, for the record, I am much more proud of his two-handed set shot than I am about all this legal nonsense. Shmattas are the way an honest man makes money, not pushing paper.
When I was at Towson Officer Brown would often be sighted in the Kosher Dining Hall.
Posted by: Diana at September 29, 2006 2:25 PMZaidy Willy:
The two hand set shot can be a lethal offensive weapon. May I remind you that: a) offensive fouls turns the ball over and b) you travel every time you do that weak drop step of yours. You hit one foul shot agains HAGW and you think you are Chaim Katz.
As for pronouncing discrimination, I had a law clerk feeding me the infomation through an ear piece.
Posted by: SZT at October 1, 2006 12:21 AMIs that how you speak to your grandfather?!
And, for the record, it was clean. Please inform all interested parties.
Posted by: Zaidy Willy at October 3, 2006 10:52 AMThe student body at Towson University is going to be protesting this Thursday at 3:00 about the treatment of Mr. Brown.
Posted by: SZT at October 3, 2006 8:11 PMSZT- does that mean you might be on the news again?
Posted by: peninah at October 3, 2006 9:30 PMI'm not sure. I'm calling Rabbi Avi Weiss to see how I should behave during the protest.
Posted by: SZT at October 4, 2006 12:04 AMThinking about going on a hunger strike?
