Who? How? Why?
This might be old news, but apparently Baltimore's pride and joy, the Where What When, has a website. Which is awesome only because now I can finally link to this.

By remaining anonymous (as long as he or she is respectful and non-argumentative or accusatory), the anonymous writer can sometimes be more powerful than the identified one.

People don't attach their names to WWW letters because they are embarrassed or they are criticizing someone.
Also, you're describing ad hominem arguments, which have no place in rational discourse.
