The New Family Heirlooms: Board Games

Sky News: Monopoly Takes A Chance On Plastic

Monopoly board game players can now pay for properties with debit cards. Game makers Parker have phased out the standard multi-coloured cash in a new version. Players will instead use a Visa mock debit card to keep track of how much they win or lose. It is inserted into an electronic machine where the banker taps in cardholders' earnings and payments.
I was just thinking last Shabbos that Monopoly was one of the few classic games that had not been modernized to make it non-Shomer Shabbos.  The non-electronic versions of games like Monopoly, Battleship, etc. will become underground black-market items of extreme value in the frum community, with older versions passed on from generation to generation ("You may have got Zaydie's mishnayos, but I got his Shomer Shabbos Risk board game!").
