Thought of the Day
Malachi 2:17: "Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say: 'Wherein have we wearied Him?' In that ye say: 'Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delighteth in them; or where is the God of justice?'"
For those unfamiliar with Malachi, he is castigating the people for concluding from the prospering of the wicked that either God loves evil or that God does not exist. This is what is commonly referred to in philosophy as the Problem of Evil.
I find it intriguing that the language used to describe God's emotional response to the doubts of the people is "weary" ("tired" or "exhausted" suffice as well). God is not angered or offended by this line of reasoning; rather, He waits in disappointment, in frustrated sadness, for us to rise above our need to understand Him in objective terms.
