Via My Obiter Dicta, a new "establishment" blog called Torah Currents, under the auspicious of the Orthodox Caucus. I'm pleased to see that one of the contributors is none other than Shomrei's own R. Dovid Gottleib.

Although there are several posts, I just found the site today, so I haven't read much at this point. The site seems to have a more scholarly-journal feel to it, rather than a blog-feel; they are accepting submissions for articles. I wonder if we will get a persistent voice, or if the site will merely become a collection of contributed articles. While the latter wouldn't be a bad thing, the former represents a more compelling and worthwhile offering.

I also wonder if the name is intended to evoke another recent Orthodox-establishment foray into the blogosphere, Cross-Currents. If it means we're going to be seeing some old-world style Talmudic blog smackdowns, I say bring it on.
