R.I.P. HFS

Peninah just emailed me a news report that 99.1 WHFS has shut down. Infinity is transitioning the frequency to Latino music. www.whfs.com already redirects to 99.1 El Zol. I guess the real question is what is going to become of The Junkies. Crazy.

Update: Follow the comments on Blogdigger. DCRTV links to an mp3 of the death of alternative in DC.

I heard the Junkies might head back to wjfk. The good thing is that in balto we have WTMD (89.7, http://wtmd.org), which is WAY better than hfs.

I thought this was some sort of evil Presence prank because I questioned him about injustice?! Thanking God right now for my XM Radio!! What a timely Christmas present?

Craig, what's on JFK in the morning? Or would the Junkies move to a different time slot. I'm not sure if JFK makes it up to Baltimore.

Jeff, no joke, I wish it were. Actually, the music has gone downhill over the past few years, but it was still another spot on the dial. No es beuno.

I hadn't listened to HFS in years. (At least not on a regular basis.) Weasel used to be my famous DJ, with just the right mix of alternative and mainstream and encyclopedic knowledge of both. (Ever hear "Money Changes Everything?" by the Brains?) It's also the first place I heard the Monkees "I'm not your stepping stone."
Lately, after a dalliance with country music (most of which is dull) I'm back to mostly oldies and classic rock. And CD's. I don't much listen to Jewish music except when the children are around.
