Welcome
Welcome to Presence.
This will be my fifth foray into the blogging world, with one defunct attempt at a personal blog a few years ago, followed by Harry Potter Prognostications and Blogdigger's Development Blog. The latter two are pretty specific to their respective topics, and I found myself wanting to post unrelated stuff which I thought would clutter up the space. Then I stumbled upon BaltiBlogs and here I am.
I have to give kudos to maphet, the administrator for BaltiBlogs. He got everything up and running fast, and just providing this free service is a tremendous service.
Part of what I want to accomplish with this blog is to raise awareness in my community about blogs. I think they are a powerful tool for sharing information and communicating. I plan on using this blog to discuss things related to Baltimore, in particular the Baltimore Jewish community, as well as religion, politics, literature, technology and all the other stuff blogs are good for.
It also gives me a chance to mess with Movable Type. I've been using my BaltiBlogs MT account now for only a week, but so far it blows both Blogger and Radio out of the water. Very cool.
At any rate, welcome to Presence, the place to be.
Glad to have you aboard. Raising community awareness of blogs, and providing a community forum for ongoing discussion, is what BaltiBlogs is all about.
I'm also interested to see what you have to say about the Baltimore Jewish community. I haven't seen anything like that until I moved to Baltimore. My wife and I have been really impressed by it.
Posted by: maphet at September 15, 2003 10:50 AMHola. I'm over on a baltiblogs sister site, chattablogs, and I look forward to checking back in here often and readin' what you've got to say. My best friend Mesh is Jewish, though that probably sounds patronizing. Regardless, I look forward to reading.
Posted by: JosiahQ at September 15, 2003 12:09 PMMaphet: Thanks! Baltimore has one of the oldest Jewish communities in the country, and a fairly sizable Orthodox one to boot. Depending on where you are from, its not something that is too common. I'm happy to hear you were impressed!
JosiahQ: Thanks for stopping by, I'll check out your blog (and Mesh's) as well (and we really should get the whole lot listed in Blogdigger). And dont worry, it doesnt sound patronizing; my best friend is Jewish also ;)
